Elite Reviewer Spotlight: Mark T. Dillon

Mark Dillon

JBJS is pleased once again to highlight our Elite Reviewers. The Elite Reviewers Program recognizes our best reviewers for their outstanding efforts. All JBJS reviewers help us maintain the highest standards for quality orthopaedic publishing. Today we introduce Mark Dillon

Name:

Mark Dillon , MD

Affiliation:

Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN

Years in practice:

14 years.

When did you begin reviewing for other journals and for JBJS in particular?

I’ve been reviewing for journals for around 10 years, and I’ve been a reviewer for JBJS since 2019.

What is your top piece of advice for those reviewers who aspire to reach Elite status?

I like to read a manuscript a couple of times right when the invitation comes into my inbox, then I usually let it sit for a few days. When you pick it up again and re-read it, you often get a fresh perspective.

Aside from orthopaedic manuscripts, what have you been reading lately?

I’ve been reading Vince Flynn’s books about CIA assassin Mitch Rapp. They are fun to pick up for a few minutes before going to sleep at night.
