JBJS is pleased once again to highlight our Elite Reviewers. The Elite Reviewers Program recognizes our best reviewers for their outstanding efforts. All JBJS reviewers help us maintain the highest standards for quality orthopaedic publishing.
Name:
Michael W. Chapman, MD
Affiliation:
University of California Davis School of Medicine, Sacramento, CA
Years in practice:
Started residency 1963, retired 2000. Still on volunteer clinical faculty.
How did you begin reviewing for other journals and for JBJS in particular?
First became a reviewer after serving as member of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Board of Trustees of JBJS.
What has been the highlight of your career (so far)?
Other than the thrill of seeing severely injured patients return to a healthy and productive life, receiving recognition from my peers. In my case, the receipt of the University of California Davis Medal, which is the highest recognition our university bestows. I am the first physician to receive it.
Aside from orthopaedic manuscripts, what have you been reading lately?
I have eclectic reading habits, concentrating mostly on current literature on politics and worldwide problems, but I enjoy good fiction as well. Buried my nose last summer in the wonderful series of novels on frontier life in Montana from Ivan Doig.
