JBJS is pleased to announce that it has joined the International Orthopaedic Diversity Alliance (IODA) as a Charter Signatory.
As described by the organization, IODA is “an international collaboration with a vision for a global orthopaedic culture in which everyone can thrive.” It was founded in late 2019. Its mission: “To champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in orthopaedics worldwide.”
IODA has created a charter to recognize organizations that have publicly committed to improving diversity, equity, inclusion, and engagement in orthopaedic surgery. JBJS joins several leading orthopaedic societies and organizations in becoming IODA Charter Signatories.
Earlier this year on the OrthoJOE podcast, Drs. Mo Bhandari and Marc Swiontkowski talked with IODA President Dr. Jennifer Green about the organization’s founding as well as advances that have been made and work still needing to be done in the area of diversity in orthopaedics. To find out more about IODA, visit the IODA website, which serves as a hub to connect advocates, promote events, support research, and provide resources. IODA membership is free and open to all in health care.
