JBJS Open Access has been selected for inclusion in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) by Clarivate. JBJS Open Access publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed open access articles of interest to the orthopaedic community worldwide. The journal will receive its first impact factor later this year.

New Review Article Type

 JBJS Open Access is now accepting review articles for publication. These articles offer insights into the existing clinical and scientific evidence, taking the form of narrative reviews, critical analysis reviews, and systematic reviews 

The new review article type expands on established JBJS Open Access content. Since its founding in 2016, the international online journal has published clinical and basic science research articles with the potential to impact musculoskeletal treatment and patient care. In 2020, Open Access broadened its offerings to include education-focused content in the AOA Critical Issues in Education section through a partnership with the American Orthopaedic Association. What Makes JBJS Open Access Essential Reading?   

Submissions Welcome

Submissions to JBJS Open Access are welcome. Authors interested in submitting a scientific, review, or AOA Critical Issues in Education manuscript are encouraged to visit the JBJS Open Access Instructions for Authors page to learn more.
