JBJS Journal of Orthopaedics for Physician Assistants (JOPA) continues the tradition of recognizing outstanding papers. Awards are given for the best reviews, case studies, or scientific articles by certified practicing physician assistants (PAs), nurse practitioners (NPs), or PA/NP students published each calendar year. In 2025, JOPA expanded the awards program to include up to 10 winners.
JOPA Editor Dagan Cloutier, PA-C reflects, “JOPA had a record 7 Writing Award recipients as we introduced our expanded Writing Awards program last year. Award-winning article topics included nonoperative treatment of Achilles tendon ruptures, perioperative use of SSRI and SNRIs, 3D-printed orthoses for distal radius fractures, treatment of displaced pediatric medial humeral epicondyle fractures with small all-suture anchors, semimembranosus calcific tendinopathy, treatment of knee osteochondral defects in high-level athletes, and time spent on InBasket management by subspecialty advanced practice providers. The diversity of articles continues to be a strength of JOPA!”
Visit the JBJS JOPA Writing Awards page to find out more about the awards and how to submit an article. Submissions for 2026 are now open.
